Joseph Charles Louis Jean Gabriel Domergue (1889-1962) is a French painter and engraver. Jean-Gabriel Domergue is a pupil at Lycée Montaigne in Bordeaux, then in Paris at Lycée Rollin. He is passionate about drawing. He will be a student of Fine Arts in Paris. He was awarded the Prix de Rome in painting in 1911. In 1938, he performed a composition with a nude young woman for the campaign of the new fragrance Féerie de Rigaud and that same year, he is also a member of the jury for the election of Miss France, as in 1936. In 1939, he directed the poster of the first International Cannes Film Festival (quickly interrupted in September 1939, during the general mobilization). In 1950, he was elected a member of the Institut de France at the Fauteuil 14. He was appointed curator of the Jacquemart-André Museum in Paris from 1955 to 1962, where he organized exhibitions on the painting of Van Gogh, Toulouse-Lautrec, Goya ...
