He is a world-renowned interpreter, both for his original approach to classical repertoire and for his popularity and teaching skills, Alexander Lonquich was born in Trier, Germany, and has been living in Italy for many years. As a solo-director he has collaborated with the Frankfurt Radio Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Deutsche Kammerphilarmonie, the Camerata Salzburg, the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, the Orchester des Champs-Elysées, the Milan Philharmonic, the RAI National Symphony Orchestra and the National Academy of Santa Cecilia. After making engravings for EMI dedicated to Mozart, Schumann and Schubert, he started collaborating with the ECM recording music by Gideon Lewensohn, Fauré, Ravel, Messiaen, Schumann and Schubert.
Founded in 1629, the Winterthur Musikkollegium is one of the oldest musical institutions in Europe. He has about forty concerts a year in his own season in Winterthur, Switzerland, as well as frequent tours in the most prestigious European music seasons.
