Opera in three acts by Antonin Dvorak
The Czech composer Antonin Dvořák wanted to make a popular opera and in a few months he developed the one which, since 1900, is one of the most represented in the history of the Czech Republic: in 1946 he had more than 500 presentations . Rusalka, a watery nymph, from the family of sirens - many say that the libretto is based on Slavic legends but also on the historical account of Hans Christian Andersen - is the expression of the melodic gift of the composer. The story of the siren who wants to be human for a prince comes first to Columbus, with the famous Aria "Song of the Moon". A metaphor of the bond between human beings and nature and a fantastic love story.
